Irving Berlin's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN will be the next Christmas musical at the Crucible in Daniel Evans’ final season as artistic director of Sheffield Theatres.
With Music and Lyrics by Irving Berlin and Original Book by Dorothy and Herbert Fields, revised by Peter Stone, ANNIE GET YOUR GUN will run from 8 December 2016 to 14 January 2017, with press night on 14 December.
ANNIE GET YOUR GUN is a Wild West musical from the Golden Age of Broadway and includes the classic numbers ‘There’s No Business Like Show Business’, ‘Anything You Can Do’ and ‘I Got The Sun In The Morning And The Moon At Night’. There will be whip-cracking choreography from Sheffield regular, Alistair David.
Anna-Jane Casey returns to Sheffield Theatres to play Annie Oakley having previously appeared in Company, Sweet Charity and Piaf, and she will soon be seen in Flowers for Mrs Harris. Her recent theatre credits include Mack & Mabel (Chichester Festival Theatre & UK tour), Jerry’s Girls (St James Theatre), and Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace Theatre). Television credits include Family Guy and The Royal; and for film, Beyond the Sea.
Paul Foster directs. His theatre credits include Tell Me On a Sunday (Watermill and national tour), Sweet Charity (Cadogan Hall), L’Amante Anglaise (NT Studio), Bette Midler and Me (Edinburgh Festival and St James Theatre), Laurel and Hardy (Watermill), Darling of the Day, Bells are Ringing, Crimes of the Heart (Union Theatre), and The Vagina Monologues (national tour).
