London premiere of CARRIE: the musical now playing at Southwark Playhouse

CARRIE: The Musical, which receives its long awaited London premiere, is now playing in The Large at Southwark Playhouse until 30 May. This gripping musical stars Evelyn Hoskins as Carrie White and Kim Criswell as her mother Margaret.

Hoskins played Thea in the original London cast of Spring Awakening at the Lyric Hammersmith and in the West End. She appeared in This Is My Family at Sheffield Crucible and The Secret Garden at Birmingham Rep. Television credits include the recurring roles of Lucy in Misfits  (E4) and Shona in Casualty (BBC).

Criswell was in the original Broadway casts of The First, Nine, Baby and The Threepenny Opera with Sting, in addition to playing Grizabella in the original LA cast of Cats. Extensive UK credits include a the title role of Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun at the Prince of Wales Theatre for which she was Olivier award nominated.

The cast also features Jodie Jacobs as Miss Gardner, Greg Miller Burns as Tommy, Sarah McNicholas as Sue, Dex Lee as Billy, Gabriella Williams as Chris, David Habbin as Mr Stephens, Molly McGuire as Norma, Bobbie Little as Frieda, Emily McGougan as Helen, Patrick Sullivan as George, Olly Dobson as Freddy and Eddie Myles as Stokes.

CARRIE: The Musical has music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and book by Lawrence D. Cohen, based on the novel by Stephen King, licensed by arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe. Directed by Gary Lloyd, this London premiere production is presented by Paul Taylor-Mills Ltd (who return to Southwark Playhouse following their acclaimed productions of In the Heights and Bat Boy: The Musical), by arrangement with Bill Kenwright Ltd.
