With words by Oscar Hammerstein II, and music by Richard Rodgers, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” was written for the score of their 1945 Broadway musical, CAROUSEL, but this song has always had a special resonance and meaning beyond its context and function within the musical. "You’ll Never Walk Alone" has been recorded by dozens of pop, rock, gospel, country western, and opera stars, including Liverpool band Gerry and the Pacemakers, whose 1963 cover inspired supporters of Liverpool Football Club to adopt the song as their anthem. The song has even found its way into the Last Night of the Proms, where it has been sung annually for over a decade. We are honoured that this event has been named after this song, one of the most treasured songs in our catalogue, and that it is being used to support such a great cause.
