Walter Afanasieff  (b. 1958) is a songwriter and producer, best known for his hit "Hero," co-written with Mariah Carey in 1992.  He has also worked with singers Celine Dion ("Beauty and the Beast"), Savage Garden ("I Knew I Loved You"), Ricky Martin and Lara Fabian.
