Rodgers & Hammerstein Row on W. 44th Street in New York City. This block, between Broadway and Eigth Avenue, was renamed Rodgers & Hammerstein Row on March 31, 1993 by New York City Mayor David Dinkins. In their lifetime, Rodgers & Hammerstein saw eight of their nine musicals open on this block: OKLAHOMA!, THE KING AND I, and FLOWER DRUM SONG at the St. James Theatre; CAROUSEL, ALLEGRO, SOUTH PACIFIC,and ME AND JULIET at the Majestic; and PIPE DREAM at the Shubert.
