Producers of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella recently announced that actress, talk-show host and recording artist Keke Palmer will make her Broadway debut in the show's title role beginning September 9th, making history as the first African-American Cinderella on Broadway. Mary Rodgers Guettel died at her home in Manhattan this morning after a long illness, according to her son Alec Guettel. She was 83 years old. Her Broadway career began as composer of the 1959 musical ONCE UPON A MATTRESS starring Carol Burnett, later broadcast to great success on network television and revived repeatedly.
