Walker, Michael Patrick

Michael Patrick Walker is an award-winning composer/lyricist who The New York Times hailed as "a skilled songwriter" and The Huffington Post dubbed one of today's "must-know songwriters." He has been honored with an Outer Critics Circle Award and multiple Drama Desk nominations for his theatrical writing and his songs have been performed and recorded by a diverse group of artists including Chita Rivera, Kelli O'Hara, Cheyenne Jackson, Ana Gasteyer and many more.

His musicals include: DOG AND PONY (with book writer Rick Elice, world premiere at The Old Globe Theatre, San Diego), ALTAR BOYZ (with collaborators Gary Adler and Kevin Del Aguila, Outer Critics Circle Award Winner, Best Off-Broadway Musical, 9th-longest running Off-Broadway Musical of all time), BEING THEO (book, music and lyrics by Walker), a song cycle based on his debut album OUT OF CONTEXT: THE MUSIC OF MICHAEL PATRICK WALKER (Yellow Sound Label), CUPID?S ERROR (in development, book, music and lyrics by Walker) and THE DISTANT BELLS (Eugene O'Neill Festival finalist).

Beyond the world of theatre, Michael's songs can be heard on the Disney Channel's Emmy-nominated JOHNNY AND THE SPRITES and Nick JR's OLIVIA. Recordings include: OUT OF CONTEXT (co-producer), the ALTAR BOYZ cast album, the JOHNNY AND THE SPRITES album (co-producer) and several editions of BC/EFA's CAROLS FOR A CURE.

Michael is a teaching faculty member for the Broadway Dreams Foundation and a proud graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
