Walker, Michael Patrick

Michael Patrick Walker is a composer/lyricist who currently resides in Manhattan.  Hailing from the much smaller town of New Freedom, Pennsylvania, Michael has been playing the piano since the age of 5 and working professionally in the theatre for over 10 years. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1993 and moving to New York, he was fortunate enough to begin working as a professional theatre musician almost immediately.

He served as the associate conductor on national tours of JEKYLL AND HYDE and THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL as well as on the Ahmanson Theatre's production of 3HREE.  On Broadway and Off, his credits include the pit orchestras for WICKED, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, LA BOHEME, THE LION KING, CATS, THE KING AND I, THE FANTASTICKS and TICK, TICK...BOOM! Michael is currently the associate conductor of AVENUE Q on Broadway.

Michael's first professionally produced musical, ALTAR BOYZ, opened Off Broadway on March 1, 2005 and was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike.  The show was honored with the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and was nominated for a 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical.  In addition, the show received 7 Drama Desk Nominations of which Michael (with his collaborator, Gary Adler) received 2 - for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Lyrics.  He is extremely proud and honored to be recognized for his work in this way.

As of the Off Broadway company's 1-year anniversary, ALTAR BOYZ has played New York City, Detroit and Des Moines with a production about to begin in Seoul, South Korea and a national tour of the United States planned for the 2006-2007 season.

Michael is one of the composers for the upcoming Disney Channel Series, Johnny and the Sprites starring Tony Award Nominee John Tartaglia. He is also working on two new theatre pieces and an original movie musical - all of which he is too superstitious to say much about yet!

He it thrilled to join the Williamson Music Family, and is equally pleased that ALTAR BOYZ is represented by R&H Theatricals.
