Kauffman, Marta

Marta Kauffman (b.1956) is best known for co-creating and executive producing the Emmy Award-winning series Friends.  She also co-created and co-executive produced the comedy series Dream On, (Emmy Award nomination, CableAce Award), Family Album, Veronica's Closet starring Kirstie Alley, and Jesse starring Christina Applegate.

Kauffman attended Brandeis University, where she met her writing partner, David Crane.  Together they co-wrote the book and lyrics for the musical PERSONALS, which received an Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Lyrics, and 4 Drama Desk Award nominations for Outstanding Book of a Musical and Outstanding Musical for the 1985-1986 season.  The songs with music by composer Stephen Schwartz  "Moving In With Linda," "Nothing To Do With Love," and "Some Things Don't End" are licensed by Williamson Music.

The team also contributed material to the off-Broadway revues A...MY NAME IS ALICE and MARTIN CHARNIN'S UPSTAIRS AT O'NEALS.
